April 14, 2004

According to Sheriff Bob Alford, Johnson County deputies arrested a man running a drug lab in South Loop Motel in Fort Worth, after the man had failed to appear in District Court April 14, 2004 for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Alford stated that Mazin Obeidat, 26, refused to open the door to warrants deputies Wednesday morning, and deputies forced their way into the motel room, where they found Obeidat with a working drug lab and a large quantity of drugs. Obeidat also was wanted on Johnson County Misdemeanor warrants.

Deputy Bobby Arriola contacted the Fort Worth Police Drug Task Force, who took Obeidat into custody, and then on to a Fort Worth hospital after Obeidat complained that he was ill.

Obeidat is expected to be booked into Tarrant County Jail after he is released from the hospital, and then he will be released to Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
