Help stop financial crime before it starts – with direct deposit.  Did you know that last year alone more than 58,000 Treasury-issued checks – totaling an estimated $56 million – were forged?  Direct deposit eliminates the risk of stolen checks and forgeries and helps protect you from identity theft.

It’s for these reasons that Wise Eyes is taking a proactive stance to raise awareness about financial crime and inform our recipients, including our senior citizens, people with disabilities and others about how to safeguard their money and identity with direct deposit and Go Direct, a national campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the federal reserve banks.  We hope this information will motivate people who get Social Security and other federal benefits, by check, to switch to direct deposit.  Direct deposit is the safest and easiest payment option whether it’s for Social Security, SSI or an individual monthly retirement.  With direct deposit you’re protected against fraud or identity theft and your money is in your account on your payment day - when you need it.

To sign up or learn more about this campaign call (800) 333-1795 or go to on the internet.  If you prefer to discuss the advantages of direct deposit with someone more familiar to you, contact your local Credit Union or Bank.
